A video showing the eviction of service houses in the Lenteng Agung area, South Jakarta, by TNI AD soldiers has gone viral on social media. TNI AD has clarified that the land is an asset owned by the military.

In the circulating video, as seen by detikcom on Tuesday (7/4/2026), several soldiers were already at the location. Some residents, unhappy with their homes being evicted, scolded the TNI soldiers.

“We need to clarify that what happened in the Lenteng Agung area is not a clash or land dispute, but rather the eviction and demolition of 15 units of former Zikon 15 service houses, carried out by Pusziad on TNI AD-owned land and building assets,” said Kadispenad Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono in his statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Donny explained that the land is part of the assets of the Denzijihandak/SDS Pusziad unit, covering 44,841 square metres, and holds a Right to Use certificate Number 00184 of 2016. The former Zikon 15 area being evicted spans 15,250 square metres and has been designated as service housing for active soldiers.

“The eviction itself is related to the development of the unit from Kizijihandak to Denzijihandak, which impacts an increase in personnel numbers and the need for service housing as well as facilities for active soldiers,” he explained.

In accordance with existing regulations, said Donny, the service houses in Lenteng Agung are classified as Group II State Houses, intended for active TNI members. These houses must be returned to the unit if the occupant retires, transfers, or is no longer eligible to occupy them.

TNI AD assured that persuasive and administrative steps were taken before the eviction. Socialisation activities were conducted in July and August 2024, involving local government elements.

“After that, Warning Letter I was issued on 16 October 2024, Warning Letter II on 30 December 2024, and Warning Letter III on 5 August 2025,” he added.

Donny further stated that the eviction targeted 15 empty units, with their electricity supply cut off since January 2026. The eviction activity also involved the police and followed existing procedures and rules.

“Thus, it is untrue to call this morning’s incident a seizure or land dispute, but rather an effort to normalise and restore the function of TNI AD service houses in accordance with applicable regulations,” he concluded.
