Lenteng Agung Main Road Temporarily Reopened to Ease Traffic Congestion After Collapse

To alleviate traffic congestion that began on Thursday (28 May) evening, police have temporarily reopened access to Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The move is a responsive measure to address the traffic impact in the area.

“So traffic from Jakarta heading towards Depok is temporarily opened to reduce congestion,” said South Jakarta Police Traffic Unit Chief, Kompol Mujiyanto, during a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday (29 May).

Kompol Mujiyanto explained that the lane reopening was possible after South Jakarta’s Water Resources Sub-Division (SDA) carried out emergency repairs. The collapsed area has been compacted with sediment and covered with steel plates to allow safer vehicle passage.

“Hopefully it doesn’t collapse again. We’ll wait for SDA to normalise it before fully reopening the lane,” he added.

Currently, there are no plans for additional traffic management or diversion measures. Police confirmed the priority is maintaining smooth traffic flow.

According to on-site reports, the road collapse near Gang Empang, Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, has the following specifications:

Depth: Up to 3 metres.

Length: Approximately 16 metres.

The incident caused significant traffic congestion from Jakarta to Depok. South Jakarta Police Traffic Unit personnel remain on-site to assist in easing congestion, and drivers are advised to remain vigilant and cautious when passing through the affected area. (Ant/E-4)
