Lenteng Agung drainage channel repair 75% complete
Jakarta South Water Resources Agency (SDA) has reported that repairs to a collapsed underground drainage channel on Lenteng Agung Raya in Jagakarsa are 75% complete.
Head of Jakarta South SDA Santo confirmed the progress during a press briefing in Jakarta on Monday, stating, “The repair process is now 75% complete.” He added that after installing the new drainage channels, the agency will proceed with road surface restoration and concrete pouring in the repaired areas. “This will ensure the road structure is strong and safe for vehicles,” Santo explained.
The repairs focus on the underground drainage system beneath the road. Work is being carried out in phases to restore normal water flow and repair the damaged road surface. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily closed the southern-bound section of Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok to facilitate the SDA’s repair work. “For safety, we have closed the road from 2pm to 5am daily. It will be fully open by tomorrow,” Santo said.
Previously, the underground drainage channel in Lenteng Agung had deteriorated, causing the road to collapse. To address this, workers removed part of the road surface and installed box culverts (gorong-gorong) to replace the damaged old channels. The Jakarta South SDA aims to complete the main works shortly to restore normal traffic flow, while minor improvements and area restoration will continue until the entire structure is fully secure.
The South Jakarta City Government has allocated Rp380 million for the drainage repair project in the Lenteng Agung area.
