South Jakarta Water Resources Department (SDA) reported that repair work on a collapsed underground drain along Lenteng Agung Raya in Jagakarsa has reached 75% completion. The project focuses on restoring road construction and normalising water flow in the area.

‘Work is 75% complete,’ said South Jakarta SDA Head Santo during a confirmation in Jakarta on Monday, June 1.

Santo explained that after the installation of the drainage system, workers would immediately close the road and pour concrete on the repaired sections. Next steps include compacting the soil to ensure the road structure is strong and safe for motor vehicles.

To facilitate the repair process and ensure safety, the Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily closed the southbound section of Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok, from 2pm to 5am daily. ‘For safety, we close it from 2pm to 5am so it can be used again tomorrow,’ Santo added.

During the closure, traffic is diverted to alternative routes prepared by field officers. The repairs respond to previous underground drain damage that caused the road to collapse, endangering road users.

Officials have demolished part of the road surface to install new box culverts as replacements for the damaged old drainage system. South Jakarta City Government allocated approximately Rp380 million for the Jagakarsa repair project.

South Jakarta SDA aims to complete the main works shortly to restore full traffic flow. After the main works, officers will carry out improvements to the surrounding area to ensure the entire structure is completely safe.
