Hong Kong (ANTARA) — Technology company Lenovo has stated that hybrid artificial intelligence, or Hybrid AI, has now become the new standard in business operations across various industrial sectors.

Executive Vice President and President of Solutions and Services Group at Lenovo, Ken Wong, explained that Hybrid AI is no longer merely an option but a necessity for companies seeking to remain competitive in the digital era.

“Hybrid AI has become the new standard because every person is unique and every organisation is different. Hybrid AI has large language models, choices regarding data, and options for where AI is run,” said Ken Wong during the Lenovo Tech World 2026 event in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

According to Ken Wong, AI has currently evolved beyond merely generating answers, with the technology now capable of sensing, reasoning, and acting directly or in real time.

For companies, this new phase marks a moment where AI transforms data into tangible action and connects the digital and physical worlds.

The combination of these, Wong stated, defines a new era of artificial intelligence utilisation.

“Last year we said this era was just emerging, but this year Hybrid AI is already operational and showing improvement,” he said.

He referred to the strategic guidance or framework called the “2026 CIO Playbook,” which shows that organisations currently expect high returns from AI investments and are continually increasing their budget allocations.

Ken Wong revealed that Hybrid AI’s role is crucial because it enables companies to implement AI responsibly, protect data, respect regulations, whilst simultaneously delivering tangible business results.

Further, Ken Wong stated that Lenovo has demonstrated Hybrid AI implementation at various scales.

For the 2026 World Cup, the company is implementing Hybrid AI across all venue operations, encompassing infrastructure, integration, live monitoring, and on-site support.

The solution also includes the deployment of AI avatar volunteers who assist visitors with directions and enhance the experience during the event.

He added that the partnership with FIFA for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held across three countries, serves as evidence of Lenovo’s capability in supporting large-scale and highly complex event operations.

“We are implementing Hybrid AI fully at the local level. And now we are bringing that expertise to the global stage as FIFA’s official technology partner for this year’s World Cup,” Wong stated.
