Lenovo Returns to the Gaming Phone Market, Launches Legion Y70 (2026)

Lenovo is back in the gaming smartphone segment after an absence of about four years, introducing the Legion Y70 (2026). The model name is not unfamiliar, as Lenovo had previously used Legion Y70 in 2022. Lenovo has reintroduced the Legion Y70 with updated specifications and design for today’s gaming smartphone market. One of the main attractions of the Legion Y70 is its battery capacity, now boosted to 8,000 mAh, up from 5,100 mAh. This capacity is large for a modern gaming smartphone. Lenovo claims this battery can power gaming for up to 19.3 hours on a single charge. For normal use, they say the device can last up to 57 hours. This sizeable battery is supported by 90-watt fast charging via a USB-C connector. On battery life, Lenovo states that the gaming phone’s battery will remain durable even after around 1,200 charge cycles. In terms of performance, the Legion Y70 (2026) is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset with a CPU speed of up to 3.8 GHz. The chipset is paired with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM with speeds up to 9,600 Mbps, and storage options up to 1 TB UFS 4.1. To keep temperatures stable during gaming, Lenovo equipped the phone with a 5,500 mm² vapor chamber cooling system. Lenovo claims the cooling system can reduce CPU core temperatures by up to 7 degrees Celsius during extended gaming sessions. Design-wise, the back of the Legion Y70 (2026) features a relatively simple design, unlike typical gaming phones that are known for futuristic aesthetics. However, Lenovo decorates the rear with the “Legion” logo, perhaps to signal to users that this is a gaming phone.
