Lenovo Laptop and PC Assembly Facility Inaugurated in Batam
BATAM – Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, attended the inauguration of Lenovo's laptop and personal computer (PC) assembly facility at PT Sat Nusapersada on Tuesday (29/4/2025). The inauguration of the laptop and PC facility, which has met Domestic Component Level (TKDN) regulations, was officiated by Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu.
During the event, Li Claudia stated that the inauguration of the assembly facility was a source of great pride for the people of Batam, as the launch signified the technology industry's confidence in Batam to carry out major, internationally recognised operations.
"As an industrial city and one of the driving forces of the national economy, Batam will continue to open itself to technological developments and innovation," she affirmed.
She expressed confidence that Lenovo's presence, coupled with the launch of its flagship products, would send a positive signal for the growth of the technology sector in Batam — in terms of investment, job creation, and human resource development.
"We hope that in the future there will be more strategic collaborations between Lenovo and the existing ecosystem in Batam, involving the business community, education sector, and government, to jointly drive digitalisation and regional economic transformation," she concluded.
Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, welcomed the inauguration. He said it was in line with the national economic growth target of 8 per cent. To achieve this target, investment must serve as the primary engine of growth.
"When investment grows, the multiplier effect will be significant. So we hope that existing investments will be supported to continue growing," he said.
Meanwhile, Operational Director of PT Sat Nusapersada Tbk, Bidin Yusuf, expressed gratitude to BP Batam and the Batam City Government for their full support, which enabled the collaboration with Lenovo to materialise. The partnership is expected to create thousands of new jobs and facilitate the transfer of high-technology expertise to Indonesia, particularly to Batam.
"Sat Nusapersada has survived to this day because of government support. Going forward, we also have a dream of producing global products," he concluded.
