Lenovo Developing Laptop with Horizontally Expandable Rollable Screen

Technology brand Lenovo is reportedly developing a laptop product whose screen can be expanded horizontally to the side.

According to a Gizmochina report on Tuesday (11/8), the latest render images appearing on digital platforms show a rollable-screen laptop with the codename Project Swan being developed by Lenovo.

The device, whose render images were shared by Windows Latest, has a screen that can be expanded horizontally, unlike previous rollable-screen laptops which used a vertical screen expansion mechanism.

Based on the palm rest design, the device is estimated to be part of Lenovo’s ThinkBook series.

The render images of the device do not show the right side, so the ports located there are not yet known.

When turned over, the device appears to have a back panel with a two-tone design as well as cut-out gaps on both sides.

Project Swan is reported to use guide rails to store the additional screen section when not in use.

When the user needs a wider screen, a drive motor will pull the hidden flexible OLED panel section out from both sides simultaneously.

To accommodate the rails, the hinge is made shorter and positioned more towards the centre compared to the hinge on a standard ThinkBook.

Lenovo has previously introduced screen innovations in laptop products.

The company has showcased the ThinkBook Modular AI PC and ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist concepts with motorised hinges this year.

At the Consumer Electronic Show 2026, Lenovo also displayed a horizontal rollable screen innovation in the Legion Pro Rollable gaming device concept.

The Legion Pro Rollable Concept, introduced in January 2026, is described as a premium 16-inch gaming laptop with a screen that can be expanded horizontally from 16 inches to 21.5 inches up to 24 inches.
