The Lendang Re road section in Central Sekotong Village, Sekotong District, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has suddenly gone viral on social media for offering views reminiscent of a kingdom above the clouds. The road, which was newly paved approximately two weeks ago, offers vistas of green hills, vast expanses of rice fields, and the wide blue sea.

The road section, which connects Lendang Re Hamlet with Menjot Hamlet, initially appears to be an ordinary hilly road. Drivers passing through are presented with views of roadside trees and green slopes that follow the contour of the incline. However, the true beauty becomes apparent when drivers look back or check their rearview mirrors. The expanse of the blue sea gradually appears wider as vehicles ascend towards the summit.

At the top of the slope, there is a terraced flat area surrounded by local paddy fields. This location has now become a favourite spot for visitors wishing to take photographs or simply enjoy the natural panorama. From this vantage point, visitors can see the vast ocean decorated with ship activities at Lembar Port and Gili Mas Port. Numerous fishing boats and shrimp pond areas also enhance the coastal landscape of Sekotong.

Despite the viral trend, the number of visitors to the location remains relatively low, ensuring the atmosphere remains pristine and clean. Most visitors are currently dominated by residents of Sekotong, though some have arrived from outside the area after seeing information on social media.

“I learned about this location from Instagram and happened to be travelling through Sekotong, so I stopped by,” said Albani, a visitor from Mataram, on Sunday (7/5/2026). According to Albani, the area around the Lendang Re slope has great potential to be developed as a new tourist destination that could boost the local community’s economy. “It has the potential to become a tourist spot, perhaps an aesthetic coffee shop area that could be managed by the locals,” he added.

For tourists wishing to visit, the best time is during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the intense sun. Visitors are advised to bring their own food and drinks and to avoid leaving litter at the site. The Lendang Re slope is approximately a one-hour drive from Mataram City. From the Central Sekotong Village junction, drivers should turn right. After several kilometres, turn left at the junction next to SDN 04 Sekotong Tengah to reach the location. Drivers are urged to remain cautious when traversing this road, especially at night, as minimal street lighting and uneven asphalt conditions could pose risks to road users.
