Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), Edi Saputra Hasibuan, believes that President Prabowo Subianto’s proposal of Komjen Pol. Suyudi Ario Seto as the sole candidate for National Police Chief is a correct decision, as he possesses strong experience to further improve the performance of the National Police (Polri).

In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, Edi noted that Suyudi is an officer with extensive experience, particularly in the fields of criminal investigation and law enforcement.

“Throughout my acquaintance with Suyudi, he is a true criminal investigator. He has long experience, a good trackpend, high flight hours, and experience leading regional units,” said the lecturer from the Postgraduate Programme at Bhayangkara University Jakarta.

According to him, Suyudi’s experience as a criminal investigation officer, Regional Police Chief, Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Banten Regional Police Chief, and Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) serves as vital capital for leading the National Police, an institution with increasingly complex duties.

“We believe that the National Police Chief candidate, Suyudi, will be able to increase the performance of the National Police and build even better public trust,” said Edi.

He assessed that the challenges facing the National Police Chief in the future are not light. The National Police are required to become increasingly professional in law enforcement, improve public services, strengthen crime eradication, and maintain closeness with the community.

In his view, Suyudi’s experience as the Head of the BNN also provides an additional perspective in facing narcotics crime and organised crime networks.

“With his experience in criminal investigation and leading law enforcement agencies, Suyudi has sufficient preparation to face the future challenges of the National Police,” said Edi.

The leadership of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) received a letter from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the proposal for the dismissal and appointment of the National Police Chief on Wednesday (30/9).
