Lemhannas supports Prabowo's efforts to secure fuel supplies from Russia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) supports President Prabowo Subianto’s efforts to secure fuel supplies from Russia by meeting President Vladimir Putin. According to Lemhannas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily, this step is highly appropriate to ensure the availability of national fuel stocks amid the intensifying Middle East conflict. “Seeking energy sources, including his planned trip to Russia, is certainly part of his efforts to meet domestic needs,” Ace said during a press conference at Lemhannas headquarters in Central Jakarta on Saturday. He explained that Indonesia’s position is well-suited to building cooperation with various countries due to its non-aligned status. This status means Indonesia is not bound to conflicting blocs, allowing it to forge partnerships with any nation. Indonesia is known to have a harmonious relationship background with Russia, as both have been involved in various cooperations, one of which is in the defence sector. Ace stated that they hope Prabowo’s visit to Russia will yield positive results for achieving national energy resilience. “Because the President does not want the Indonesian people to experience energy shortages, which would impact national energy resilience,” Ace clarified. “Yes, there is such a plan, but for certainty, the Foreign Ministry will convey it later. There are several countries that have certainly already cooperated,” said Teddy during a media statement at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (10/4). Teddy conveyed that the government is indeed exploring cooperation with several countries, including in the energy sector. However, he said, the certainty of the destination countries and discussion agendas will be officially announced by the relevant ministries.
