Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas), Ace Hasan Syadzily, hopes that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran can last longer than two weeks for the common good.

“Of course, it is the hope of us all, I think, and the hope of all world leaders that this ceasefire is not just a two-week pause, but can continue,” said Ace during a press conference at the Lemhannas office in Central Jakarta on Saturday.

Ace hopes for a longer ceasefire because the war occurring in the Middle East triggers global conflicts that impact the economic resilience of various countries, including Indonesia.

The closure disrupts strategic routes for fuel distribution to various countries, resulting in a surge in oil prices.

On the other hand, public purchasing power is feared to be unable to keep up with the rise in oil prices, thereby reducing energy resilience further.

Therefore, Ace believes the government will support the ceasefire efforts to quell the conflict in the Middle East.

“We want the global geopolitical stability to be well maintained, which will certainly affect our geo-economy,” said Ace by way of explanation.
