Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has reported that work on the Lembah Anai route in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, which was severed by flash floods in November 2025, has reached 73 percent completion. “As of the end of May 2026, work on the Lembah Anai area has reached 73 percent, and we are targeting completion by July 2026,” said HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman in Padang on Monday. He noted that the Lembah Anai access road, which connects Padang with Bukittinggi and surrounding areas, is now fully open 24 hours a day for both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. The acceleration of work is being carried out while maintaining quality and worker safety, as well as considering the smooth mobility of the public, including the flow of logistics from various regions and the distribution of fuel oil. The hydrometeorological disaster that struck West Sumatra at the end of November 2025 caused the total severance of the Lembah Anai route. The Ministry of Public Works, through Hutama Karya, moved quickly to restore this vital access. With major works now completed, HKI is focusing on finishing 20 remaining work points, including support structures, slope treatment, road hardening, drainage, road safety works, and hotmix asphalt paving. He stated that the road section plays a crucial role as a strategic connecting route in West Sumatra, and the state-owned enterprise is committed to completing the handling by July 2026. With the Lembah Anai route reconnected, traffic flow from Padang to Bukittinggi and vice versa is expected to fully recover, bringing positive economic and social impacts to the community. A resident named Ica, travelling from Bukittinggi to Padang, said the accelerated repair of the Lembah Anai route has greatly helped the public, as previously the area was impassable and vehicles had to take a much longer detour via Sitinjau Lauik.
