PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has recorded that post-disaster handling progress in the Lembah Anai area reached 73 percent as of the end of May 2026, with all works targeted for completion by July 2026. Currently, access to Lembah Anai has been fully opened for 24 hours for both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, restoring the strategic link between Padang and Bukittinggi.

Several major works have been completed, including water diversion, river normalisation, road body protection, borepile works at several affected points, road body backfilling, slope reinforcement, drainage works, and foundation protection for the Margayasa Bridge. With these works finished, HKI is now focusing its efforts on completing supporting structures, slope handling, road pavement, drainage, and road safety works.

HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman stated that the acceleration of completion is being carried out while maintaining quality and safety. “HKI continues to strive to accelerate the completion of the Lembah Anai handling while prioritising safety aspects, work quality, and the smooth mobility of the community. With a number of major works completed, HKI is now focusing on continuing the completion of 20 work points with scopes such as supporting structures, slope handling, road pavement, drainage, road safety works, and hotmix asphalt works,” Resnu said on Monday (22/6).

Resnu added that the Lembah Anai access is now fully open 24 hours for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. This condition has also encouraged an increase in traffic volume passing through the area, especially during the long holiday period. “With the full reconnection of the Lembah Anai access, mobility for the people of West Sumatra can proceed more smoothly. This section plays an important role as a strategic connecting route, so HKI is committed to completing this handling by July 2026, so that its benefits can be optimally felt by the community,” Resnu continued.

The full opening of access has also boosted traffic volume in the area, particularly during the long holiday period. With the reconnection of Lembah Anai, traffic flow from Padang to Bukittinggi and vice versa is expected to fully recover and bring positive impacts to the community, both economically and socially.
