Leighton Wins Coal Mining Contract

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Leighton International, sister company of Leighton Holdings Limited Group, an undertaking for project development and the biggest contractor in Australia, won the contract worth US$350 million from the PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya (MSJ) , mining company owned by Tanito Coal Group. The contract is for a coal mining expansion in Indonesia that will be for five years. It will be started soon and end by April 2013.

Director of Leighton International, David Savage, said the contract proves their good performance on the project. “We have demonstrated our capability consistently to give additional value to our client's project,” he said as quoted by Egoli, Wednesday (14/5).

Leighton has worked on the MSJ mining project since May 2004. At that time they had a three-year work contract that has been extended to the next three years with a contract value of US$125 million.
