Legislators to visit Jakarta

JAKARTA: Twenty-one members of the House of Representatives Commission V for public works, housing, transportation and telecommunications will monitor state companies in Jakarta providing transportation services during the House recess session, Antara reported on Monday.

House spokesman Suryadi said the scheduled visit from Oct. 18 to Oct. 20 would include a meeting with Governor Sutiyoso and visits to several places -- Gambir train station, state owned bus operator Damri and other state owned-companies in the city.

He said the observation was aimed at evaluating the readiness of the city to provide transportation for the millions of Jakartans who visit their hometowns prior to Idul Fitri on Nov. 3. --Antara
