Legislators to visit Australia
JAKARTA: Nine legislators from the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I for foreign affairs are planning to visit Australia to meet Australian authorities and Indonesians suspected of terrorist activities.
The legislators would visit Indonesian communities in four cities Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
"We will go there to get firsthand information," Ambong told Thursday.
The three-day visit will also be used so that the legislators can get an understanding of the policies of the Australian government on Indonesian citizens, said Ambong, a politician from Golkar Party.
For that purpose, Ambong said, the delegation would meet with Indonesian diplomats there, Australian Parliament members and police.
According to Ambong, the findings would be discussed in Commission I and later submitted to the government for further action. -- JP
