Legislators take Rp 1 billion trip

SEMARANG, Central Java: All 100 members of Central Java's
provincial legislature will be making various trips abroad later
this month, at a cost of at least one billion rupiah ($434,000).

DPRD speaker Soeparto said the trips are aimed at allowing
legislators to study various industrial sites abroad in order to
help set an effective development agenda for Central Java.

Each legislator will be allocated Rp 8 million, with an
additional Rp 2 million being contributed by the governor of
Central Java, Antara reported.

Soeparto said that each DPRD Commission will visit a different
country to study various fields which will be useful in the
development of province.(mds)
