Legislators check into land dispute
JAKARTA (JP): Members of the House of Representatives visited a disputed three-hectare plot of land in Perigi village, Tangerang, on Saturday.
Abdul Samin, spokesman for the land owners, told the House members from the Indonesian Democratic Party faction, Sabam Sirait and Popo Sonadar Haroen, that the local residents are the legal owners of the plot also claimed by PT Pembangunan Jaya, the developer of the Bintaro Jaya housing complex.
"We don't have any idea why the developer claims to hold a legal ownership document from the National Land Agency," Samin said.
The disputed land is situated in the middle of the satellite town, Bintaro Jaya, which is being developed in Tangerang.
Samin said that previous talks with land affairs authorities, police, and the developer's officers brought no results.
Sirait and Popo promised to accompany the land owners to meet with the developing company's management and other concerned parties in order to clarify the matter. (03)
