Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Chair of the Democrat-Peruscian Faction of the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), Nur Afni Sajim, has urged the Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure that the 2026 Revised Regional Budget (APBD Perubahan) delivers an equitable impact for all Jakarta residents.

According to her, the 2026 Revised Budget should not merely focus on economic growth but must also be capable of reducing inequality and expanding employment opportunities for the community.

Jakarta’s economic condition, she noted, shows positive performance, with economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reaching 5.59 per cent. Furthermore, investment realisation throughout the first half of 2026 reached Rp173.6 trillion, representing a growth of 23.30 per cent.

“Significant growth and investment are not enough if quality employment opportunities do not grow proportionally and the benefits of development are not felt more evenly,” Nur Afni said in Jakarta on Friday.

On the other hand, although the number of impoverished residents in Jakarta decreased to 432,620 people by March 2020, the Gini Ratio actually reached 0.435.

Nur Afni assessed that this figure indicates that the issue of inequality in Jakarta still requires serious attention.

Therefore, she stated that her faction is encouraging budget policies in the 2026 Revised Budget to have a stronger redistributive function, including through well-targeted social assistance and social protection.

“Economic policy must be directed towards expanding the creation of productive and high-quality jobs,” said Nur Afni.

In addition to job creation, she emphasised that education must be one of the priorities in budget allocation.

Quality and affordable education is considered a long-term investment to increase productivity, social mobility, and the competitiveness of Jakarta’s population.

As is known, the 2026 Revised Budget Draft stands at Rp79.59 trillion, a 2.13 per cent decrease compared to the previous budget of Rp81.32 trillion.

Meanwhile, Regional Revenue has decreased to Rp69.36 trillion, while Regional Expenditure has increased to Rp75.08 trillion.

Nur Afni mentioned that this condition makes Jakarta’s fiscal space increasingly limited even as expenditure needs continue to rise.

“Fiscal discipline is not just about maintaining figures to look healthy. What is more important is ensuring that every rupiah of the budget delivers results,” said Nur Afni.

She revealed that any additional budget in the 2026 Revised Budget must be truly executable by the end of the year, considering that regional expenditure realisation as of 12 August 2026 had only reached 43.84 per cent, or approximately Rp32.56 trillion.

She also reminded that efficiency should be directed towards non-productive spending and wasteful bureaucracy, while education, health, food, transport, security, and basic public services must remain priorities.
