Jakarta (ANTARA) - Wa Ode Herlina, a member of Commission B of the Jakarta DPRD, has suggested that the fares for the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gasting-Manggarai line should be affordable and integrated with other public transport modes to encourage the public to transition from private vehicles to public transport.

“The important thing now is not just the completion of the LRT, but how the LRT connects with Transjakarta, Mikrotrans, KRL, and other modes,” said Wa Ode Herlina in Jakarta on Monday.

Wa Ode assessed that the operation of the 12.2-kilometre LRT, featuring 11 stations and a travel time of approximately 28 minutes, must be accompanied by connectivity with Transjakarta, Mikrotrans, KRL, and other modes.

She requested that the Mikrotrans network, acting as a feeder service to LRT stations, be strengthened, including the development of park-and-ride facilities in the Manggarai area.

She believes such facilities could serve as an incentive for the public to abandon private vehicles in favour of public transport.
