Legislator Says Industrial Sector is Main Engine of Economic Growth

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Novita Hardini, a member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives, has affirmed the importance of strengthening the industrial sector as the primary engine of national economic growth amid increasingly competitive global economic dynamics.

Novita made this statement because the industrial sector possesses a strategic role in creating added value, opening employment opportunities, and strengthening Indonesia’s competitive advantage in the global market.

“Strengthening the national industry must be carried out in an integrated manner through policies that support technological development, improvement of human resource quality, and support for business actors,” said Novita whilst speaking at a Democracy Dialogue forum with the theme “Strategy to Drive 8 Per Cent Economic Growth”, held by KWP in collaboration with the Press Bureau of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, as quoted from an official press statement on Friday.

Novita explained that the industrial sector thus far has not only served as the backbone of the economy but also plays an important role in maintaining national economic stability.

For this reason, she believes the government needs to ensure that industrial policy is implemented consistently, including through regulatory support, investment, and strengthening of domestic supply chains.

The government must also collaborate with business actors and research institutions, which is key to driving innovation and increasing the productivity of the national industrial sector.

With such synergy, she said, Indonesia is expected to be able to utilise its available resources optimally.

With a variety of government regulations and policies that are appropriate, Novita is confident that Indonesian industry can deliver tangible benefits for the general public whilst strengthening Indonesia’s economic resilience in the future.
