Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III, Martin Tumbelaka, has praised the performance of the National Police Traffic Corps Chief, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, and his subordinates in carrying out the 2026 Ketupat Operation. He stated that the National Police’s efforts in securing the Eid al-Fitr 1447 homecoming proceeded smoothly.

“I give my appreciation to the Traffic Corps Chief and his team. Their working steps are outstanding,” Martin told reporters on Monday (30/3/2026).

Martin highlighted the decline in accident rates during the 2026 homecoming. He hopes that the alertness and professionalism demonstrated by the National Police can be sustained in future major holiday homecoming operations.

“This is evident from the reduced accident rate, which shows their work is truly outstanding. We give our appreciation. Moving forward, we hope it gets even better. Better handling in the field during major holidays,” Martin stated.

“And most importantly, the safety of the on-duty members,” he added.

This Gerindra legislator mentioned having a positive experience during his visit to Bandung amid the Eid homecoming. According to him, the police on the ground were vigilant and promptly assisted drivers.

“While others enjoy holidays, they are working. That’s what I see as outstanding. I even approached them on the road. I got out, and whatever we can do to support them in the field, we do,” Martin said.

“The journey to Bandung, all security posts, they are on standby day and night,” he continued.

He conveyed his thanks for the attitude shown by the National Police during the 2026 Eid homecoming. Martin hopes that this performance can be continuously maintained.

“Their readiness, they carry out their duties professionally. They risk, meaning they sacrifice time with family and relatives to ensure the public’s homecoming runs smoothly,” he said.

Previously, National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus stated that the Eid homecoming and return flows in 2026 were under control. Data from the Traffic Corps showed no significant incidents during this year’s Eid homecoming period.

“Colleagues, the homecoming flow, return flow, and series of Eid al-Fitr activities were sufficiently controlled, with no notable incidents in terms of security and public order,” Inspector General Agus said at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (30/3/2026).

Inspector General Agus explained that during Eid 2026, the National Police conducted the Ketupat Operation, followed by Enhanced Routine Activities. He stated that the homecoming flow was managed well despite a significant increase in vehicle volume.

“The homecoming flow has proceeded well even though there was a quite high increase in flow, but we managed the homecoming flow effectively,” he noted.

Inspector General Agus also mentioned that the accident rate during the 2026 Eid homecoming period dropped by 5.31%. The fatality rate also decreased by 30.41% during this year’s Eid homecoming season.
