Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Farah Puteri Nahlia, has welcomed Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s working visit to Moscow, Russia, to meet President Vladimir Putin. She described the cooperation as important in maintaining stability and peace amid the Middle East conflict.
“We welcome the President’s visit to Moscow as a concrete step to strengthen strategic relations between Indonesia and Russia. Strengthening this partnership is important, not only for national interests, but also as part of Indonesia’s contribution to maintaining stability and peace amid global dynamics,” Farah said in her statement on Friday (17/4/2026).
This PAN legislator views the strengthening of relations between Indonesia and Russia as a relevant long-term step. She stated that maintaining balanced relations with various countries is key to ensuring Indonesia retains a strong bargaining position.
“This approach reflects the principle of active and independent foreign policy that we have upheld,” she said.
Farah assessed that the partnership with Russia can contribute to creating regional and global stability. She hopes the meeting can serve as a systematic step amid global conflicts.
“We hope this high-level meeting can also encourage concrete steps in building more constructive communication among conflicting parties,” Farah said.
“If Indonesia can promote synergy with Russia in easing tensions, this would certainly be a significant diplomatic achievement,” she added.
She assessed that Russia can be an important partner in supporting national energy resilience, especially amid current global supply uncertainties. Farah emphasised that every cooperation opportunity should be well managed.
“Ultimately, the most important thing is how every established cooperation can directly impact the people,” she said.
