JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of DPR Commission XI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, outlined various government measures to maintain public purchasing power, particularly through energy policies and social assistance, amid global pressures on oil prices.

Misbakhun stated that the government, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto alongside the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, is working hard to contain the impact of global energy price increases so as not to burden the public.

“In an uncertain global situation, including the impact of international conflicts on energy prices, the state is present through subsidy policies to protect the people,” Misbakhun said in his statement on Saturday (2/5/2026).

“Because of that situation, oil prices have risen. They have risen worldwide, but only in Indonesia they have not, for subsidised fuel,” he added.

Misbakhun further explained that the government is striving to maintain subsidised fuel prices until the end of the year, even in a scenario where global oil prices reach 100 US dollars per barrel.

“The President and Mr Bahlil are going to oil-producing countries so that supplies enter Indonesia in large quantities, thus subsidised fuel prices can be maintained. This message is important to convey to all the people,” he emphasised.

According to Misbakhun, the price of 3 kg LPG remains around Rp 22,000, while non-subsidised 5.5 kilogram and 12 kilogram LPG has reached hundreds of thousands of rupiah.

“This means the government is trying to ensure its people do not face difficulties,” he said.

Furthermore, Misbakhun mentioned that the government is still maintaining various subsidies and assistance, including fuel and electricity subsidies, interest subsidies for People’s Business Credit (KUR), BPJS Health premium payments, and the distribution of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT).

As the leader of DPR Commission XI, Misbakhun said his side is also involved in determining the budget for these policies, including the amount of subsidies provided to the public.

“This means the state is present for the people; the government’s programmes are truly felt by the public,” he stated.

He also highlighted the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) as one of the government’s priority policies.
