Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mujiyono, is pushing for improvements in the verification system for follow-up actions on reports from the JAKI application, where every follow-up must be accompanied by validated metadata such as time and location. “The problem is, if the photo can be manipulated using AI, it appears as though the report has been followed up, whereas in the field it may not be,” said Mujiyono in Jakarta on Tuesday. He spotlighted the potential for misuse in the mechanism for following up on public reports through the JAKI app, which has so far relied on photos uploaded by the relevant agencies. In the current mechanism, residents report issues via JAKI, then the provincial government forwards them to the relevant agencies for follow-up. However, the evidence of follow-up has relied on photos uploaded by the agencies. According to Mujiyono, this situation has the potential to reduce accountability and public trust in the complaint system. “In addition, random cross-verification (random audit) in the field and integration with CCTV or other monitoring systems should be carried out to ensure the real conditions,” he said. Mujiyono also requested strengthening of the internal oversight system accompanied by firm sanctions for perpetrators proven to have carried out manipulation, as has begun to be implemented in some cases. Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of a feedback mechanism from reporters as part of service evaluation. “It must be ensured that there is a confirmation or feedback mechanism from the reporter to assess whether the follow-up carried out matches the conditions in the field. This is important as an additional control from the public on the quality of public services,” he said. He added that JAKI must remain an instrument for quick public services, but also accurate and accountable. Previously, a post went viral on a social media account regarding a report of illegal parking in the JAKI app that had been declared completed, accompanied by a photo suspected to be the result of AI.
