Legislator Ensures Housing Stimulus Programme Benefits Bandung Residents
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Member of the House of Representatives Rajiv has confirmed that the government programme to improve the quality of uninhabitable homes, the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS), is being enjoyed by residents of Bandung Regency, West Java.
Rajiv verified this by reviewing the implementation of BSPS in Bandung Regency together with Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait and Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian.
“As the representative of the people of Bandung Regency, I have a responsibility to ensure that government programmes genuinely reach the people who need them,” Rajiv said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.
For this reason, he said he was committed to providing an additional Rp340 million for 17 beneficiary homes so that their repairs would use the best materials.
“The government has already provided assistance through the BSPS programme. I will also add personal assistance of Rp20 million for each home so that the quality of construction is even better and the benefits can be felt to the fullest,” he said.
In addition, he said he would fight for the thematic aquaculture aspiration programme from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries so that residents of Bandung Regency could enjoy it.
“We will push for the thematic aquaculture aspiration programme from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. The hope is that people will not only have more decent homes, but also gain opportunities to develop businesses and increase family income,” he said.
According to him, improving public welfare requires a comprehensive approach, so housing programmes must go hand in hand with economic empowerment so that people have a stronger and more sustainable foundation for their lives.
“A decent home provides a sense of security, while business opportunities provide independence. Both must be fought for together so that people’s standard of living genuinely improves,” he said.
