Legislator Ensures Housing Stimulus Programme Benefits Bandung Residents

Jakarta - Member of the House of Representatives Rajiv has ensured that the government’s programme to improve the quality of uninhabitable houses, the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS), is being enjoyed by residents of Bandung Regency, West Java. Rajiv confirmed this by reviewing the implementation of BSPS in Bandung Regency together with Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait and Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian. “As a representative of the people of Bandung Regency, I have a responsibility to ensure that government programmes truly reach the people in need,” Rajiv said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday. For this reason, he said he is committed to providing an additional Rp340 million for 17 beneficiary homes so that their home repairs can use the best materials. “The government has provided assistance through the BSPS programme. I will also add personal assistance of Rp20 million for each house so that the quality of construction is better and the benefits can be felt optimally,” he said. Furthermore, he said he will fight for the thematic aquaculture programme from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to be enjoyed by the residents of Bandung Regency. “We will fight for the thematic aquaculture programme from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. The hope is that the community will not only have more decent housing, but also gain opportunities to develop businesses and increase family income,” he said. According to him, improving community welfare requires a comprehensive approach, so housing programmes must go hand in hand with economic empowerment so that the community has a stronger and more sustainable life foundation. “A decent home provides a sense of security, while business opportunities provide independence. Both must be fought for together so that the community’s standard of living truly improves,” he said.
