Legislator encourages collaboration on cultural activities at Ambarawa Fort

Semarang (ANTARA) - Member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives Samuel Wattimena is encouraging collaboration on cultural arts activities located at the tourism object of Benteng Fort Willem Ambarawa, Semarang Regency, Central Java. “Cultural events can connect with the existence of the Fort Willem tourism object,” said Samuel while participating in the Doa Untuk Perdamaian Nusantara cultural procession at Benteng Fort Willem Ambarawa on Saturday night. He explained that the cultural activities held must be paired with contemporary events. In addition, he hopes that cultural figures in Semarang Regency can collaborate with the younger generation to organise their own versions of activities. “To the seniors and elders, these younger generations should not be let go,” he said. In this way, he continued, a cultural behaviour will emerge that is expressed through art. Meanwhile, hundreds of cultural arts practitioners and religious leaders in Semarang Regency held Doa Untuk Perdamaian Nusantara. The interfaith prayer was started with a cultural procession around the Benteng Fort Willem Ambarawa area. Religious leaders and belief streams took turns delivering prayers for the peace of the archipelago amid the conflicts occurring in the Middle East.
