Legislator decries Singapore's illegals
SINGAPORE (AFP): A Singapore legislator has called for firm
action against illegal immigrants after at least six Chinese
nationals were involved in the kidnapping of a local girl, a
report said on Monday.
Some of the Chinese nationals arrested and charged in court
this month in connection with the kidnapping of a wealthy car
dealer's 14-year-old daughter are believed to have entered
Singapore illegally.
Police arrested the six suspected kidnappers after the car
dealer paid a ransom of S$330,000 (US$194,120) for the release of
his daughter who was held for about 60 hours.
