Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission E of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI) M. Subki has confirmed that private schools that have joined the Free Private School (SSG) programme will receive disbursement of funds from the Jakarta Provincial Government. “We have asked the Education Agency (Disdik) to provide certainty to the schools,” Subki said in Jakarta on Wednesday. Subki made the statement in relation to public reports regarding registration fees being charged by a number of schools participating in the programme. According to Subki, the charges occurred because the government assistance funds had not yet been disbursed. He stressed that all schools that have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and are listed in the Decree (SK) for the SSG Programme are guaranteed to receive the disbursement of funds. “Schools listed in the decree will receive the funds,” he explained. Subki hopes this certainty will eliminate any doubts among school administrators in running the programme and ensure that students receive educational services without being burdened by additional costs. He also urged the Jakarta Education Agency to continue overseeing the implementation of the SSG Programme so that it runs according to regulations and provides benefits to the community. Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stressed that private schools participating in the free school programme are not allowed to charge fees to students. Pramono also reminded that the Jakarta Provincial Government will not hesitate to take firm action against any private school that continues to impose charges on students.
