Legislator Backs Kortas Tipikor Polri to Fully Investigate Alleged Coal Supply Corruption

A member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party faction, Muhammad Rahul, has voiced his support for the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) of the Indonesian National Police in investigating alleged corruption related to coal supply fulfilment for several coal-fired power plants (PLTU). The alleged corruption is suspected of having contributed to blackouts in a number of regions across Indonesia.

According to Rahul, law enforcement against corruption that harms the state and directly impacts public services must be carried out professionally, transparently, and thoroughly. “We fully support Kortas Tipikor Polri’s steps to investigate this case to completion. The law enforcement process must be professional, independent, transparent, and fair in accordance with the principles of Precision,” said Muhammad Rahul on Thursday (9/7).

Rahul stressed that anyone proven to be involved must be held accountable before the law without discrimination. “If deviations are proven to have caused state losses and disrupted the electricity supply to the public, then all responsible parties must be processed according to the applicable legal provisions. There must be no compromise on corruption. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the spirit of law enforcement is impartial. Anyone proven to have committed a criminal act of corruption must be processed according to the law,” he asserted.

He also appreciated the investigators’ move to elevate the case status to the investigation stage and expressed hope that the evidentiary process would be conducted clearly, ensuring no party is immune to the law. The public, he noted, expects this case to be handled firmly, transparently, and fairly.
