Legislator Backs Danantara Probe into Alleged Fraud at PT Pos Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A member of the House of Representatives Commission VI, Rivqy Abdul Halim, has expressed support for the Danantara Investment Management Agency’s move to uncover alleged fraud within state-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia. “If there is indeed evidence of financial report manipulation and fraudulent practices that have persisted for a long time, this case must be investigated thoroughly. There must be no room for practices that harm the company or the state,” the legislator, whose commission oversees state-owned enterprises, said in a statement confirmed on Wednesday. He also backed Danantara’s initiative, noting that PT Pos Indonesia holds a strategic position as a backbone of national logistics services. With an operational network reaching remote areas, he said, PT Pos Indonesia plays a crucial role in the distribution of goods, documents, and financial services, as well as supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises and the digital economy. “PT Pos Indonesia has a vast network and strategic assets that few other companies possess. This potential must be safeguarded through sound, transparent, and accountable governance,” he said. Therefore, Rivqy stated that Danantara’s move could be an important part of efforts to strengthen the governance of state-owned enterprises, ensuring they are transparent, accountable, and free from irregularities. However, he reminded Danantara that a comprehensive evaluation of PT Pos Indonesia must still be carried out to restore the company’s health and competitiveness, enabling it to meet the increasingly tight challenges of the logistics industry. “It is equally important to ensure that PT Pos Indonesia rises again as a healthy, professional company capable of providing the best service to the public. Years of governance issues must not erode public trust in one of our strategic state-owned enterprises,” he cautioned. Rivqy assured that Commission VI of the House of Representatives will continue to oversee the governance reform process at PT Pos Indonesia and other state-owned enterprises to ensure they can perform their public service functions while strengthening national competitiveness. “This momentum must become a turning point for the reform of PT Pos Indonesia. With good governance, the company will be stronger in supporting the national logistics system, improving public services, and making a greater contribution to the Indonesian economy,” he said. Previously, Danantara’s Managing Director of Stakeholders Management and Communications, Rohan Hafas, stated in an official release on 3 July 2026 that the agency would prepare new leadership to continue the restructuring agenda of PT Pos Indonesia following the resignation of President Director Daud Joseph. Over the past three months, Danantara had assigned Daud Joseph to lead the reform process at PT Pos Indonesia through a comprehensive due diligence review of the company’s financial, operational, governance, and organisational conditions. Based on the assessment results, Rohan revealed that Daud Joseph had reported that PT Pos Indonesia required comprehensive and fundamental changes. Furthermore, Danantara discovered financial and governance issues that had accumulated over many years, including alleged financial manipulation.
