Legislative and Judicial Areas Become Priority for IKN Development This Year
Penajam Paser Utara, VIVA – The IKN Authority states that the legislative and judicial areas will be priorities for the development of IKN, Indonesia’s new capital located in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, in 2026.
“Development of the legislative and judicial areas is one of the priorities this year,” said Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono when asked about the continuation of the new capital’s development in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Thursday.
The development of legislative and judicial office buildings along with supporting facilities and infrastructure, he continued, as well as the development of social economic superhubs and IKN environmental management, will be priorities in 2026.
The IKN Authority is also continuing to prepare various supporting facilities, including housing and basic infrastructure in IKN, as readiness for the gradual relocation process of civil servants (ASN) from Jakarta to Indonesia’s new capital in parts of East Kalimantan Province.
“Activities in 2026 will also focus on planning the development of zones and ASN development,” he said.
“The target for ASN relocation is not just this year, but will take place gradually until 2028,” he added.
The central government targets that the number of ASN relocated to IKN will continue to increase, estimated to reach around 4,000 ASN by 2028.
To date, the number of ASN serving in Indonesia’s new capital is recorded at 2,000 people, he explained, comprising 1,100 IKN Authority ASN and 900 from the Ministry of Public Works, Health, and Ministry of Transportation.
The central government targets the ASN relocation process to the new capital in parts of East Kalimantan Province to continue, as one of the efforts to accelerate IKN’s functions, built in those areas, to become Indonesia’s new government centre, said Basuki Hadimuljono. (Ant)
