Legal proceedings are for justice
Legal proceedings are for justice
From Warta Kota
Mr. Marsilam Simanjuntak, one of President Abdurrahman "Gus
Dur" Wahid's close allies has been promoted to Attorney General.
In the meantime, investigations into the cases of people
suspected of involvement in corruption, including Arifin
Panigoro, have been underway.
Since the supremacy of the law and human rights is the mandate
of the people, as stipulated in the People's Consultative
Assembly (MPR), it is hoped that any investigation into cases of
corruption must be conducted in a transparent manner pursuant to
the prevailing laws and regulations and must not be affected by
certain strong business people. Justice must be upheld.
Therefore if, after investigation and preliminary examination,
there is a strong indication that Arifin Panigoro and Akbar
Tanjung are implicated in corruption cases, they must immediately
be brought to court. But, on the other hand, if in the
investigation they are proved to be clear of corruption, the
results should be declared in public, as everyone deserves
respect and just treatment.
Hopefully, Mr. Soeparman will be firm and steadfast in his
efforts to uphold the truth and enforce the law.
We, under the umbrella of an NGO for the enhancement of rural
economy (LSMNI GEMPAR) wish you success, may God always bless
you.
