Legal Expert Urges Open Deliberation of Asset Forfeiture Bill in the DPR

Legal and development observer Hardjuno Wiwoho has welcomed the commitment of the leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill by 15 December 2026 at the latest. He said the setting of a deadline demonstrates political courage to complete a regulation that has long been needed in the fight against corruption and economic crime. “This written commitment deserves appreciation because it provides a clear benchmark to the public. The public can now monitor the deliberation process while also holding the DPR accountable if the target is not met,” Hardjuno told journalists in Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).
