Legal developments: KPK raids Director General's home while Nusron denies resignation
Various legal events have come under scrutiny recently, including the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raiding the home of the Director General of Land and Space Control at the Ministry of Agraria and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Lampri, and Minister Nusron Wahid denying rumours of his resignation.
Following a search of the PT Summarecon Agung Tbk office in East Jakarta, the KPK searched the residence of the suspect, Lampri, located in Bekasi, West Java, on Friday. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the search is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption within the Ministry of ATR/BPN.
The KPK also reported that Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) member Bebizie Sri Mulyati returned Rp895 million after being questioned as a witness in a suspected gratification case related to coal production. The spokesperson noted that the individual was cooperative in handing over the funds to investigators for seizure.
In Bengkulu, the Kepahiang District Attorney’s Office has named four suspects in a corruption case involving a domestic wastewater management project (SPALD-S) in the Seberang Musi District, which caused an estimated state loss of Rp1.11 billion. The suspects include two officials from the Kepahiang Regency Government and two private sector individuals.
Meanwhile, former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, has called on prosecutors to provide clarity regarding the ownership of 74 kilograms of gold discovered at his residence in Sentul, Bogor. As his money laundering and extortion case prepares for trial, Adriansyah expressed hope that the court would examine the matter with clarity.
Finally, the Ministry of ATR/BPN has refuted reports suggesting that Minister Nusron Wahid is resigning from his position amidst the ongoing KPK investigations. The Head of Public Relations and Protocol for the Ministry, Uunk Din Parungting, emphasised that the Minister has made no such statement regarding his resignation.
