SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore elder statesman Senior Minister Lee
Kuan Yew has been discharged from hospital after undergoing
treatment for an infection, a government press statement said on
Tuesday.
The 75-year-old former prime minister left the National
University Hospital on Monday after a two-day stay. He has
recovered and will finish his course of intravenous antibiotics
as an outpatient, it added.
An earlier statement said Lee was suffering from an infection
"arising from a minor surgical procedure". No details were given.
"He's fine, he's fine," Lee's press secretary Yeong Yoon Ying
said by telephone when asked about Lee's condition. Lee, who
previously underwent two procedures to clear clogged arteries, is
generally believed to be in good health and often travels as a
roving ambassador for Singapore.
