Lectures on Islam in English

JAKARTA (JP): Moslem organization New Moslems is hosting two public lectures in English this month aimed at both Moslems and non-Moslems.

The Relevance of the Koran to Modern Science will be delivered next Sunday while The Koranic view of Embryology and Cloning is scheduled for May 17. The lectures will take place at the Ministry of Health's Training Center on Jl. Hang Jebat, Kebayoran Baru at 2:30 p.m.

The speaker is Taufiq M. Ulwan, a guest lecturer in Koranic interpretation and sciences at the state-run Institute of Islamic Studies' post graduate program in Jakarta. He was once a specialist in surgery at Alexandria University in Egypt.

New Moslems is a three-year-old group providing English- language information on Islam to new or prospective Moslems and their families and to non-Moslem inquirers.
