A lecturer at one of the private universities in South Jakarta (Jaksel), Y (48), has been reported to the Metro Jaya Regional Police by his student with the initials A (24) over allegations of sexual harassment. The lecturer has now countersued his student for defamation. “Yes, it’s true, the lecturer has filed a defamation report,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Thursday (16/4/2026). Budi explained the background of the alleged harassment committed by the rogue lecturer against his student, which occurred in May 2022. In the victim’s report, the rogue lecturer allegedly invited her to date and groped her. “This is also a form of sexual violence, for which we have received a police report, where there was an invitation from the rogue lecturer to date, to have a relationship, along with stares and remarks that veered into negative territory, as well as touching certain parts of the student’s body,” he clarified. Budi stated that the police are currently following up on both reports. The police are still conducting a series of investigations. Student A’s report has been registered with number LP/B/2611/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 14 April 2026. A reported Y under suspected Article 414 of Law No. 1/2023 and/or Articles 6b and 6c of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS). The report is being handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (Ditres PPA-PPO) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.
