Jakarta — In an effort to accelerate renewable energy production in Lebong Regency, Lebong Regent H Azhari SH MH, together with the management of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), attended a meeting with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday morning (15/07/2025).

Azhari stated that renewable energy from geothermal sources managed by PT PGE is highly dependent on the readiness of PT PLN's power generation facilities. To that end, the discussions with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM addressed several formulations for accelerating the stages of turbine construction to be carried out by PT PLN.

"Our desire from the outset has been for PT PGE to commence production as soon as possible, as this will clearly increase royalties for boosting Lebong Regency's locally generated revenue (PAD)," Azhari said when contacted on Tuesday afternoon (15/07/2025).

Azhari explained that based on the discussions at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, PT PLN has already begun making a number of preparations, including coordinating with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), and Japanese investors. It was also conveyed that they have scheduled the turbine construction process to commence by 2027 at the latest.
