Lebaran Transport 2026: More than 69,000 Passengers Use Trains at Tegal Station
Two weeks before Eid al-Fitr 1447 H / 2026, ticket sales for Lebaran Transport 2026 continued to rise. PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daerah Operasi 4 (KAI Daop 4) Semarang, Central Java, estimates that the public are buying long-distance travel tickets earlier to secure desired departure times.
KAI Daop 4 Semarang Communications Manager Luqman Arif said that to date 69,247 passengers are recorded to use trains at Tegal Station. Of this total, 30,807 passengers are departing, while 38,440 are arriving at Tegal Station. The data covers the departure period from 13-30 March 2026 and was recorded at 09:00 WIB and will continue to change up to the train’s departure.
“The ticket sales for the Lebaran period have shown an increasing trend, especially for the dates close to Eid. We urge the public to plan their journey promptly as ticket availability is decreasing,” Luqman said in an official statement on Friday (6/3/2026).
According to Luqman, based on provisional data, the most departures from Tegal Station occurred on 23 March 2026 with 3,174 passengers.
“The highest arrivals were on 20 March 2026 with 3,788 passengers,” Luqman noted.
The popular outbound trains from Tegal Station during Lebaran 2026 include:
Tawang Jaya from Semarang Poncol to Pasar Senen, round trip.
Airlangga from Pasar Senen to Surabaya Pasar Turi, round trip.
Joglosemarkerto Semarang-Purwokerto-Yogyakarta-Solo, round trip.
Kertajaya Pasar Senen to Surabaya Pasar Turi, round trip.
Matarmaja Malang to Pasar Senen, round trip.
These trains recorded the highest booking levels due to their strategically scheduled departures close to Eid al-Fitr and school or office holidays. From the provisional data, the favourite destination cities for passengers departing from Tegal Station are dominated by Jakarta, Surabaya, Purwokerto and Solo.
Lebaran Transport 2026 runs from 13-30 March 2026, lasting 18 days. During this period, Daop 4 Semarang operates two additional trains:
Economy train Semarang Poncol - Pasar Senen.
Motis train Cepu - Semarang - Pekalongan - Pemalang - Jakarta.
During this period, Daop 4 Semarang operates 34 regular trains and 2 extra trains per day, with an average seating capacity of 19,207 seats.
KAI Daop 4 Semarang assures all facilities and infrastructure are ready for operation through routine daily maintenance, pre-departure checks, and improved station services.
“We are committed to delivering a safe, comfortable, and punctual mudik journey. The public is urged to use the Access by KAI application to monitor ticket availability and choose alternative schedules if their preferred date is nearing full,” Luqman concluded. (JI/E-4)
This step is part of readiness to handle increasing rail travel frequency and passengers during Lebaran.
Public who booked train tickets on 25 January 2026 can already plan travel for departures starting 11 March 2026.
Trains from the western direction are currently operating as per the regular service pattern and no detours are being made.
The upstream and downstream lines Kalibodri-Kaliwungu previously flooded are now passable and train travel has returned to normal.
KAI Daop 4 Semarang again reminds the public that KAI provides reduced fare facilities for certain passenger categories.
