PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has sold 4,978,544 Lebaran train tickets for 11-30 March 2026. This figure exceeds the capacity of 4,498,696 seats by 110.7 percent.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that this year’s Lebaran mobility shows a more even distribution of travel times from the beginning.

“Since mid-March, passenger volume has continued to increase and remained high until the return flow phase,” she said in a written statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Long-distance train services recorded 4,170,700 passengers, or 116.8 percent of the capacity of 3,571,760 seats. Meanwhile, local train services accommodated 807,844 passengers, or 87.2 percent of the capacity of 926,936 seats.

Since 11-30 March 2026, KAI has served 4,713,332 passengers, consisting of 3,933,973 long-distance train passengers and 779,359 local train passengers.

Anne noted that the daily volume of long-distance train customers shows a significant upward trend, particularly on 22-24 March, which was the peak phase. “Each reached 242,810, 247,025, and 250,650 passengers per day,” she said.

Ticket sales exceeding seat capacity occur because one seat can be used alternately by passengers with different destinations. During the Lebaran transport period up to 30 March, KAI operated 8,844 train trips with a departure punctuality rate of 99.80 percent and an arrival punctuality rate of 98.86 percent.

“Every trip during the Lebaran transport period is part of KAI’s efforts to provide reliable transportation services that are increasingly aligned with the needs of the community,” Anne said.
