Lebaran Train Tickets at Gambir and Senen Stations Remain 476,191 Seats
JAKARTA — Lebaran train tickets for journeys from Jakarta still had 476,191 seats available as of Saturday 7 March 2026. Humas KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said the high interest in mudik by train was evident from ticket sales, which have risen since the start of March. The Lebaran transport period runs from 11 March to 1 April 2026. During this period, long-distance departures from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station offer a total of 1,076,196 seats. “Of that total, 617,752 tickets have been sold or reserved by the public,” Franoto said in a statement received by Kompas.com on Saturday 7 March 2026. For departures in the 11–20 March 2026 period, the remaining seats were about 84,499. Meanwhile, for 21–22 March specifically, the number of seats still available was only around 23,395. “For departures after Lebaran, i.e., 23 March to 1 April, seat availability was still quite high, at about 368,249 seats,” he said. He added that the peak sales period occurred during the pre-Lebaran or mudik period, namely 11–20 March 2026. During that period, 419,409 tickets were sold or reserved by the public. Some dates were almost fully booked. During that period, the remaining seats were also at their lowest. For departures on 18 March, for example, only 2,450 seats remained, while 20 March had 2,843 seats left and 19 March had 3,002 seats left. In addition, the government is providing an economic stimulus in the form of a 30 percent discount on train tickets for the period 14–29 March 2026.
