Lebaran Return Traffic Peak Predicted for 24 March, Government Issues Advice
The peak of the Lebaran 2026 return traffic, or Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, is predicted to occur on 24 March 2026. Nevertheless, the second wave of the homeward journey is expected on 28-29 March.
“Our prediction for the return traffic is on 24 March,” said PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk’s President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, at the Jasa Marga Management Training Centre building, Jalan Akses Tol Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java, on Friday, 20 March 2026.
To anticipate the increase in vehicle volume, he urged the public to return home on 26 and 27 March, taking advantage of the 30 percent toll discount.
“Plan well with the right timing. Check road density to truly enjoy the return journey and arrive safely at your destination,” he stated.
On the same occasion, the Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Aan Suhanan, said that with the government’s work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy, he urged the public to adjust their return times.
“You can return on the 25th, 26th, 27th up to the 29th so that this peak traffic can be spread across each day,” he explained.
This arrangement, he said, is solely to provide smoothness and comfort for all members of the public returning to their respective homes.
