PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports is preparing hundreds of extra flights or additional flights following the continuous increase in the number of air passengers during the Lebaran return period in 2026.

InJourney Airports’ President Director Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi stated that the 37 airports managed by the company have anticipated the increase in return traffic by optimising slot times at airports, one of which is through the operation of additional flights or extra flights by airlines. “This aligns with the growing demand for air travel during the return period,” Rizal said in a written statement on Thursday, 26 March 2026.

He explained that flight slot times or the availability of time at the airport for aircraft departures and arrivals take into account the airport’s capacity during peak hours. “As airport managers, InJourney Airports ensures the availability of slot times at airports for extra flights operated by airlines. All airports are also on 24-hour standby to adjust to the needs of airlines,” he said.

This step, he said, is part of InJourney Airports’ commitment to strengthening air transport connectivity and accessibility in Indonesia.

During the Lebaran return period in 2026, a total of 784 extra flights have been operated, with details as follows: 124 extra flights on 22 March 2026, then 211 extra flights on 23 March 2026, reaching 284 extra flights on 24 March 2026. Meanwhile, 119 extra flights are planned for 25 March 2026.

Rizal explained that these additional flights are beyond the regular scheduled flights. “The number of extra flights still has the potential to continue increasing until the Lebaran transport period ends on 30 March 2026,” Rizal said.

InJourney Airports, he said, together with all stakeholders, will continue to monitor traffic developments and ensure smooth service at airports. During the Lebaran transport period from 13 to 21 March 2026, approximately 2,400 extra flights have been operated on various flight routes.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports recorded that air traffic during the Lebaran return transport period continues to increase at all managed airports. On the return flow on 22 March 2026, the number of aircraft passenger movements at 37 airports was recorded at 468,604 passengers with 3,265 flights.

This figure then increased by around 14.4 percent on 23 March 2026 to 536,109 passengers with 3,636 flights. Then on 24 March 2026, the number of passengers reached 583,815, or up 8.9 percent compared to the previous day.

Further, Rizal said that InJourney Airports’ main focus during this return period is also on handling aircraft passenger baggage, accessibility to and from the airport, and the availability of public transport at the airport.

“We have carried out various improvements to facilities, infrastructure, and coordinated with related stakeholders to ensure smoothness and speed in handling aircraft passenger baggage, availability of public transport, and accessibility to and from the airport,” Rizal said.

The Lebaran transport period at the 37 airports managed by InJourney Airports runs until 30 March 2026. Throughout this Lebaran transport, InJourney Airports’ airports are projected to serve around 9 million air passengers.
