I refer to the statement made on Jan.22, 1996 by the manpower minister on the subject of the Idul Fitri bonus payment.

As a company which regularly pays out the annual Idul Fitri bonus, we are in full support of the statement. However, the minister was not accurate in stating that the bonus was to be paid two weeks prior to Idul Fitri.

The inaccurate statement is confusing to businesspeople. Not because they are unwilling to pay their staff the bonus, but because the statement is not in accordance with the manpower ministry's regulation no. Per-04/Men/1994, in particular article 4, number 2.

As a labor intensive company we have to reserve over Rp 1.5 billion in bonus payments and abiding by the minister's statement would upset our cash flow. May this letter clear the matter in order to prevent unrest.
