Lebaran Betawi could become Jakarta's flagship tourism programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Senator from the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dailami Firdaus, stated that the Lebaran Betawi event could be designated as a flagship tourism programme in Jakarta due to its significant potential to attract tourists while strengthening the cultural identity of the capital.
“Lebaran Betawi must become a fixed annual agenda at a clear and consistent location, so that tourists, both domestic and international, can more easily access information and plan their attendance,” said Dailami in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Dailami emphasised the importance of consistent organisation of Lebaran Betawi as an annual agenda with a fixed location.
This, he said, is considered to facilitate tourists in planning visits and sustainably increase the event’s appeal.
This Senator from DKI Jakarta highlighted the importance of involving Betawi arts and cultural performers in the event. Thus, authentic and high-quality representations of Betawi culture can be maximised.
“Betawi culinary products and crafts, especially those of good quality, must be showcased maximally to provide the best experience for visitors,” he stated.
Dailami explained the importance of optimising the promotion of Lebaran Betawi, not only domestically but also on the international stage.
According to him, this promotion requires involvement from the central government, particularly the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as Indonesian ambassadors in various friendly countries to help promote the event.
“Promotion must be expanded abroad by involving relevant ministries and our diplomatic network, so that Lebaran Betawi can be known globally and become a cultural tourism attraction for Jakarta,” he said.
He is optimistic that with these steps, Lebaran Betawi can develop into an iconic cultural tourism programme capable of increasing tourist visits while preserving Betawi cultural heritage.
