Lebaran Betawi 2026 to be Held for Three Days, Residents Invited to Banteng Field

JAKARTA — Lebaran Betawi 2026 will be held for three days at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, on 10–12 April 2026. The public is invited to attend and enliven this annual cultural event. “We invite Abang and Mpok as well as all residents to enliven and cheer this event,” said the General Chairman of the Betawi Deliberation Agency (Bamus) Betawi, Riano P. Ahmad, quoted from Antara on Monday (6/4/2026). Lebaran Betawi is a routine agenda organised by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with Bamus Betawi and Majelis Kaum Betawi. “Alhamdulillah, Lebaran Betawi 2026 is the 18th edition,” he said. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Regional Secretary, Uus Kuswanto, previously emphasised the importance of the celebration for the Betawi people as Jakarta’s hosts. “Lebaran Betawi is not just a celebration, but a momentum to strengthen unity, togetherness, and preserve Betawi cultural values as Jakarta’s identity,” said Uus. This year, Lebaran Betawi carries the theme “Strengthening Unity in Nurturing Traditions Towards Jakarta as a Global City”. On Saturday (11/4), visitors can watch performances of ondel-ondel, silat, and lenong Betawi, which will run until midnight. Then on Sunday (12/4), the event will be enlivened with morning exercises, a cultural carnival, a hantaran procession, and Betawi specialty culinary offerings. The committee targets around 20,000 visitors, including foreign tourists. In addition, a UMKM bazaar will be held to encourage community economic growth. The Chairman of the Customary Council of Majelis Kaum Betawi, Fauzi Bowo, emphasised the importance of preserving this tradition. “This tradition maintains family bonds, brotherhood, and unity among the Betawi people. One of our duties is to uphold that dignity,” he said. Last year’s Lebaran Betawi theme was “Welcoming 5 Centuries of Jakarta by Strengthening Betawi Local Wisdom”. The event was opened with the handover of hantaran or seserahan from the mayors to the governor and deputy governor. The contents of the hantaran were varied, mostly Betawi specialty foods, including yellow chicken, es selendang mayang, ongol-ongol, kemayoran dodol, and gado-gado gondangdia.
