Lebaran Betawi 2026 Confirmed to Take Place 10-12 April
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that this year’s Lebaran Betawi event will be held at Lapangan Banteng, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, from 10-12 April. “Although there are some reductions due to global concerns and budget efficiency, Lebaran Betawi will still be held solemnly,” said Assistant for People’s Welfare of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Regional Secretariat, Ali Maulana Hakim, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that Lebaran Betawi 2026, marking the 18th edition, serves as a grand platform for halal bihalal following Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The event also represents a cultural and traditional agenda for the Betawi community after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. In line with the directives of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Lebaran Betawi 2026 will be held at Lapangan Banteng, considering the historical aspects of the location, which is one of the iconic landmarks and historical developments of Jakarta. “Moreover, the event will be held at Lapangan Banteng, which has historical significance. We hope the public can attend to join in,” Ali said. Previously, in 2025, Lebaran Betawi was held at Silang Selatan Monumen Nasional, Central Jakarta, for two days, on 26 and 27 April, with the theme “Welcoming 5 Centuries of Jakarta by Strengthening Betawi Local Wisdom”. The event was opened with the handover of offerings or seserahan from the mayors to the governor and deputy governor. The contents of the offerings were diverse, mostly featuring typical Betawi cuisine, including yellow chicken, es selendang mayang, ongol-ongol, kemayoran dodol, gado-gado gondangdia, oblok duck, and wajik. Various traditional Betawi performances and typical culinary displays were also part of the event.
