Jakarta – The Indonesian Red Crescent (PMI) Jakarta Selatan has opened a drug testing service for bus drivers at Lebak Bulus Terminal as part of preparations for the safe management of the 2026 Lebaran exodus.

“In support of the smooth flow and safety of the 2026 Lebaran exodus, PMI South Jakarta City has opened a Lebaran Alert Post at Lebak Bulus Terminal, South Jakarta,” said Mundari, Chairman of PMI South Jakarta City, on Wednesday in Jakarta.

In addition to providing ambulance standby services and health checks, he stated that a special service has also been established, namely drug testing for drivers and bus crew members.

Through this service, drivers are expected to be in optimal condition and free from drug abuse, ensuring that the journey home for passengers can proceed safely.

The drug testing service will run from 16 to 20 March 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

The examination is conducted using a seven-parameter method, which includes Amphetamine (AMP), Methamphetamine/Shabu (MET), Marijuana/Cannabis (THC), Morphine/Opiate (MOP), Cocaine (COC), Benzodiazepine (BZO), and Carisoprodol/Soma/K2/Gorilla Tobacco.

“This drug testing service is a special programme and the only one within the PMI network across Jakarta, which is currently being implemented by PMI Jakarta Selatan,” said Mundari.

Following the exodus alert period at Lebak Bulus Terminal, Mundari stated, PMI Jakarta Selatan will continue its services in recreational areas, particularly at Setu Babakan on 22-24 March and 22-29 March 2026, with a total of 97 personnel to be deployed.

PMI Jakarta Selatan hopes that through these various humanitarian services, travellers can experience a safe and comfortable journey and can enjoy moments with family in their hometowns.

Meanwhile, Lebak Bulus Terminal Head Joni Budhi expressed appreciation for the health and drug testing services for drivers and bus crew members. He regarded the service as much needed at Lebak Bulus Terminal.

“This step is very important to minimise accident risks and ensure passenger safety remains the top priority during the exodus period,” said Joni.

He also noted an increase in the number of exodus travellers for this year’s Lebaran.

Since Friday (12 March) to Monday (16 March), approximately 700 exodus travellers have departed from Lebak Bulus Terminal. The preferred destination of the majority of travellers is Cirebon, whilst the rest are distributed to various regions, including Central and East Java.
